How would you conduct a study confirming college discrimination against Asian American students?
I would conduct a study that will test the Asian American on every subject. Many Asian Americans are excellent at math and science, but that won’t get them so far. They would also need to be fluent in English and be able to write well. The article says that universities prefer for athletes. I would say that if you do a sport, it will just boost up the chance of getting into a better college. Athletes shouldn’t just be accepted for just being great at a sport; universities should also look at their grades and GPA. You wouldn’t want an athlete with a poor GPA or SAT score? I wouldn’t. That’s why testing instead of Asian Americans having a sport, they can be tested on multiple subjects instead of just math and science. It wouldn’t be fair for Asian Americans to be discriminated for their race and lack of sports. I wouldn’t like universities just accepting students who are athletes with a poor GPA or SAT score. What does this world need, athletes or doctors or engineers? This country need to have future doctors and engineers so they can run their country, our country, together. Athletes would be great to have, but their just for our entertainment like NBA. It’s great to have the NBA or MLB, but what do they contribute to the country? I would test Asian Americans in more subjects instead of requiring a sport if I was running a college.

I do not agree with the reports in the paper because it said that Asian Americans need SAT scores about 140 points higher than white students. Is that fair for Asian Americans? So what if Asian Americans work hard and study a lot that comes out as a great result. Asian Americans put the effort to work hard to get into a great college doesn’t mean they should get a better score then white students. Every single student, any race, should have the same chance, to get into college and requirements. But look at Jeremy Lin, he went to Harvard, even when there was discrimination, he still got through and did the things that people said he couldn’t. He went to go play basketball and many people were making fun of him. They would say. Aren’t you missing orchestra practice, or even open your slanty eyes. But guess what, he brought his California high school team to a state championship and got picked up by the Knicks. Now he is on the Knicks, he has been becoming more popular by the second. People shouldn’t judge and treat people differently just because of their race.
